At
the invitation of the Polish Bishops' Conference, the President of the
Pontifical Council Cor Unum, His Excellency Archbishop Paul Josef
Cordes, will travel to Warsaw this coming 19 October for dialogue on Pope
Benedict XVI's Deus caritas est.
With
this Encyclical, the Pope wished to give particular importance to the
responsibility of the Bishops for the Church's charitable activity: His
enlightening words warrant special reflection and require concrete
application.
Caritas
Europe, Caritas Poland and, through them, the Caritas agencies in Polish
parishes, play a strategic role in the diffusion of the most genuine
spirit of Christian charity: their position as a bridge between the West
and Eastern Europe enable much help to reach countries of the former
Soviet Union; equally important is the spiritual and human heritage which
the Polish people feel they have received from John Paul II.
